Cooper is preparing the ground for Doidge’s departure, whilst softening up the FGR fans at the same time. “FGR don’t want cheats in the team” or so it will be claimed, and Doidge will be on his way - for a big enough transfer fee that will keep the main shareholder very happy indeed.
